Monaco is a tiny principality, located in the western region of the European continent, in the east of Nice and very close to the Italian border. It consists of the main towns: Monaco (the oldest city of all), Monte-Carlo (world-wide famous center of entertainment), La Condamine (business centre and main port of the country) and Fontvieille (industrious centre). Monaco is one of five microstates in Europe.
As for the terrain of the country, Monaco is considered to be a narrow coastal land with some higher elevation areas. In general the terrain is hilly and rugged. The highest altitude of the country is the Mont Agel, while the lowest point is the Mediterranean Sea itself. Monaco is characterized by the Mediterranean type of climate. The winters are rather mild and wet, summers hot and dry. The flora and fauna in Monaco are totally influenced by its climate.
